WAR Entertainment, a film and TV production company owned by former Detroit Piston Dale Davis, will relocate from Pittsburgh to Unity Studios, with a full slate of productions scheduled to film in 2010.
Unity Studios President Jimmy Lifton and Davis said WAR will immediately begin relocating its production services business, The Gaff Station, to Unity Studios. The Gaff Station is a full service lighting, grip and electric company. Providing a multi-million dollar inventory of equipment, The Gaff Station will also supply lighting, grip and electric equipment to the Lifton Institute for Media Skills students for training and production purposes.
Lifton and Davis said WAR’s first project is a children’s show for major network television to be filmed this winter at Unity Studios, and the second is a feature film about basketball, shooting this spring.
"The decision by WAR Entertainment to relocate operations to Unity Studios is not only a major development for us but more importantly for the people of the State of Michigan," Lifton said. "WAR Entertainment’s slate of film and TV projects equates to jobs for Michigan’s film workforce."
"Michigan’s best-in-the-nation film incentive, coupled with Unity’s Studios infrastructure and the workforce being trained by the Lifton Institute for Media Skills, creates an attractive business environment for production companies seeking a permanent home," Davis said.
WAR Entertainment was founded by Davis, who serves as the company’s Chief Executive Officer. His TV and film projects are supported by an entertainment marketing company and production studio affiliate. WAR productions next year include two feature films, a children’s television show, music videos and numerous Web projects.
